Infantry Combat Vehicle
Intended to provide fire support for Army subunits in battle and on the march, to carry and to accompany infantrymen in conditions of counteraction by the enemy.
In comparison with the BMP-1 basic version, the BMP-2 has an extended set of armament, which substantially increased its firepower and types of targets being hit. The use of an automatic gun with two-axis stabilisation enabled to deliver fire on the move and to hit air targets.
Due to improvement of the chassis, running performance of the vehicle was increased, especially when moving in the cross-country. It is possible to install mine clearing equipment.
